Founded in 1793, Norfolk County mostly encompasses towns that were originally part of Suffolk County. The county is 444 square miles in total and has a population of approx. 725,981. Massachusetts counties adjacent to Norfolk County include Middlesex County, Suffolk County, Plymouth County, Bristol County, and Worcester County. Norfolk County is also adjacent to the state of Rhode Island. The county earned the nickname "County of Presidents" because it is the birthplace of four Presidents of the United States. John Adams, John Quincy Adams, John F. Kennedy, and George H.W. Bush were all born in Norfolk County.
