ABOUT BRISTOL COUNTY

Founded on June 2, 1685, Bristol County is located in southeast Massachusetts. The county is 553 square miles in total and has a population of approx. 579,200. Massachusetts counties adjacent to Bristol County include Norfolk County, Plymouth County, and Dukes County. Bristol County is also adjacent to the state of Rhode Island. Bristol County has public transit in the form of busses and trains. Busses are provided by the Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority and the Southeastern Regional Transit Authority. Trains run on the Commuter Rail line, as part of the MBTA system.
